Concept/Description:
Unveiled on India’s 78th Independence Day, "Dawn of Valour" honours the bravery and dedication of the Indian Defence Forces stationed in Tawang. Positioned on the Army Helipad Wall near the Tawang War Memorial, this mural by Reshidev R K celebrates the strength and resilience of soldiers protecting India’s borders amidst the challenging terrain and climate of the Himalayas.
The mural features "The Heroes of Tawang" — Subedar Joginder Singh, Rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat, and Major Ralengnao ‘Bob’ Khathing, whose historic acts of valour inspire the military and local community alike. In addition to these heroes, the mural also pays tribute to the vital role of women in the armed forces, representing their diverse contributions.
Additional Interventions:
Alongside the mural, a community project at the OR Mess for stationed troops brings a sense of home through Warli art and depictions of Maharashtrian culture. This artwork, featuring icons like the dhol drums, diyas, and the Rajmudra, creates a comforting space that connects the soldiers with their roots, enhancing their daily environment in Tawang.
