Kannagi Art District

In February 2020, St+art India Foundation, with support from Asian Paints and Greater Chennai Corporation, initiated Kannagi Art District - Tamil Nadu’s first art district. Responding to the unique context of the site - which is one of the biggest resettlement areas in India - the murals largely engage with the theme of ‘People and Environment’.

Ideas of home, hope, and livelihoods, alongside some unique characteristics of the neighbourhood, such as its street games, are depicted on the walls. Kannagi is India’s fifth art district.
