St+art Bangalore

Following the creation of India’s first Public Art District in Lodhi Colony, the St+art Festival brought its vision of making art more democratic to Bengaluru in October 2016. Supported by Asian Paints and hosted by Srishti School of Art and Design, St+art BLR brought together 12 Indian and 4 international artists who created murals, installations and interventions across areas including MG Road, Cubbon Park and Majestic. In collaboration with BMRCL and Srishti’s Art in Transit programme, the festival explored local stories and addressed civic, social, political and gender issues through public art, while engaging commuters and communities through workshops, talks, screenings and a St+art Hackathon. The festival also nurtured 10 emerging artists from Bengaluru, providing them with opportunities to develop and curate projects in public spaces.
