This is Not Street Art

“This is Not Street Art” was St+art India’s first-ever exhibition, held during the 2014 St+art Delhi Festival. While large-scale murals and urban art interventions were ongoing in Shahpur Jat, Hauz Khas Village (HKV) served as the venue for this street art exhibition, showcasing works by 22 national and international artists.

Housed in a defunct, dilapidated space in the heart of HKV, the venue reflected an aesthetic aligned with the unconventional nature of street art. Its rustic and grungy interiors, untouched since the 1990s, juxtaposed the vibrant and experimental works on display, creating an informal and approachable environment that broke away from the sterility of conventional gallery spaces.

The exhibition aimed to highlight the multifaceted practices of street artists, presenting not only their work in the public domain but also site-specific installations and experimental pieces that delved deeper into their artistic processes. Visitors were invited to engage with street art in a new light, as the exhibition sought to redefine perceptions of urban art.
