GARB AGE

by Horus

The piece Horus did for the Garbage Collection Centre in Defence Colony was titled “GARB AGE.” Through his piece, the artist wanted to engage the viewer by subtly reminding them of consumerism in the present age and its consequences on the world around us. With growing consumption demands, the amount of pollution in the world is also increasing exponentially and adversely affecting nature and animals. Hence, he calls the age we live in 'Garb Age' in this piece he made in Defence Colony.

The artist lists the ‘Age’ of today as being made of garbage after the previous ages as recorded in history - Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age and finally, the 20th-century ‘Garb’Age. Having included elements of both animals and big consumer trends, such as a can of Coca-Cola, the artist wanted to invoke a chain of thought which would address the ideas of modern consumerism.
