Grade 6 : Svabhu Kohli -Rajkumari Ratnavati Girls School
by Svabhu Kohli
In this artwork, the desert night comes to life, blurring the boundaries between sky and Earth. The engaging landscape becomes a celebration of hidden nocturnal wonders, where layers of flora, fauna, animals, and insects converge. Svabhu incorporates a symphony of local colours, from blues to pinks, golds to silvers, transforming the desert night into an ethereal spectacle.
Every brushstroke whispers, connecting viewers to the intricate web of life thriving in the night. The sky's palette mirrors the desert's seamless transition between day and night. At its heart, windows of wisdom open, revealing a map of constellations — a guide through the celestial and academic realms. Constellations, like old friends, share their names in the local language, inviting students to become cosmic explorers.
Two circles hold celestial significance: one tracks the moon's cycles, the other introduces desert constellations. This map not only aids study but also connects students to the desert sky's rhythmic dance. Amidst the layers, moths and other creatures symbolise the moonlight guiding them through the desert's dark embrace, highlighting the delicate balance of this nocturnal ecosystem.
