Order in Chaos

by DALeast

DALeast is a prolific street artist from China, as well as an accomplished painter, sculptor, and digital artist. The dark imagery of his work often focuses on simple subjects that are woven together with intricate details using a captivating technique. The artist uses paint to look like a thousand metal shards that come together to form beautiful shapes, most often animals or humans. He manipulates splintered lines in order to capture the movement, form, stillness or feeling of the subject. DALeast’s art is meant to capture its audience’s emotion in every way possible. His murals can be found in countries around the world including the U.S., Switzerland, Namibia, France, Israel, Australia and China.

Travelling through India, DALeast experienced the ‘order in chaos’ that is synonymous with the country. Drawing inspiration from that notion, he combined it with the philosophies of Buddhism to create a piece that speaks about the journey towards Nirvana — a flock of birds swarming and clamouring to get to the central arch, some make it, some fall by the wayside. The imagery is also a metaphor for the depleting number of spaces for birds and animals in urban cities and their will to survive within these unnatural settings.
