Safety Pins

by Swathi & Vijay

Observing both camaraderie and a subtle tension between long-time residents and newer migrants in Maqtha, artists Swathi & Vijay created the “Safety Pins” mural. Using safety pins as a whimsical but potent metaphor, the artwork represents the cohesion and community in the neighborhood despite occasional social divisions. The two pins symbolize the connections across different backgrounds and households, offering a message of unity within diversity.
