Threads of Tradition

by Khatra

"Threads of Tradition," part of the Donate A Wall (DAW) initiative, pays tribute to Meghalaya’s textile heritage. Khatra’s mural showcases a local artisan at work, surrounded by traditional motifs like Jainthohbah, Thoh Saru stripes, Khneng Embroidery, Jainkyrshah, and Garo patterns. Each design represents a piece of Meghalaya’s cultural identity, reflecting the collective memory and values of its people. This public artwork honours the artisans who keep these traditions alive, underscoring textiles' role as woven stories that connect the past with the present.
