Untitled: Collective Licuado & Alfafa

by Colectivo Licuado & Alfafa

The first such project was done by an artist collective from Uruguay called Colectivo Licuado, which consists of Fitz (Florence Duran), Theic (Camilo Nuñez), and Alfalfa. They’ve been involved in street art since 2010 and specialise in adding colour to public and private spaces, combining place with its culture in their artwork. They painted a ‘Dhalao’ in Lajpat Nagar. This particular mural was inspired by Chote Laal, the owner of a small tea stall next to the Dhalao. There is a tradition of portable carts which are used by several vendors to set up mobile shops across the city. They travel to their regular spot with the carts in the day, sell their wares, and go back home at night. The artists left behind a small tribute for him by painting his name on the cart on this wall, which reads 'Yeh Gaadi Chhote Lal Ki Hai' / 'This cart belongs to Chhote Lal'.
