Vishvaroopa

Harshvardhan Kadam conceives and executes his experiences through visuals. With mythology seeded in his vision, he found his forte in contemporaneous storytelling. In 2007, Harshvardhan formed his collective, Inkbrushnme, creating illustrations and characters for graphic novels, motion pictures, games and children’s books. Harsh travels across India whenever he gets a chance to create graphic poems and murals on empty spaces and give them a unique character. He believes that someday he will unite all these forms together to tell a larger interconnected story.

In this piece, Inkbrushnme continues to explore concepts of Indian mythology that are a recurring theme in his work. Vishwaroopa is an all-encompassing form of Vishnu and marks the beginning of the 18-day battle of Mahabharata. Vishnu manifests in his cosmic grandeur, hypnotising Arjuna, the supreme warrior and shows him that all universal matter, animate and inanimate, is him. The artwork contains various faces, which include some popular avatars of Lord Vishnu (such as Matsya, the fish avatar or Varaha, his boar avatar), some fictitious characters, and even new-age pop characters like Yoda. Harsh Kadam conceived this piece to bring mythology back into our daily lives in a contemporary manner.
